Welcome and Opening Prayer

Song: Were You There
Were you there when they crucified my LORD?
Were you there when they crucified my LORD?
O Sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they crucified my LORD?

Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?
O sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they nailed Him to the tree?

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?
Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?
O sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?

Reading 1 -Luke 22:39-46 - Sorrow/ Gethsemane

39 And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. 40 And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” 41 And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” 43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.

Song - Down at the Cross
Down at the cross where my Savior died
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried
There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His name

CHORUS
Glory to His name
Glory to His name
There to my heart was the blood applied
Glory to His name

I am so wondrously saved from sin
Jesus so sweetly abides within
There at the cross where he took me in
Glory to His name

CHORUS

O precious fountain that saves from sin
I am so glad I have entered in
There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean
Glory to His name

CHORUS

Come to this fountain so rich and sweet
Cast your poor soul at the Savior’s feet
Plunge in today and be made complete
Glory to His name

Reading 2 - Mark 14:43-46 - Betrayal/ Judas

43 And immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man. Seize him and lead him away under guard.” 45 And when he came, he went up to him at once and said, “Rabbi!” And he kissed him. 46 And they laid hands on him and seized him.

Song - O the Deep Deep Love

Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus
Vast unmeasured, boundless, free
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me
Underneath me, all around me
Is the current of His love
Leading onward, leading homeward to
Thy glorious rest above

Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus
Spread His praise from shore to shore
How he loveth ever loveth
Changeth never never more
How he watches o’er His loved ones
Died to call them all His own
How for them he intercedeth
Watcheth o’er them from the throne

O the deep deep love of Jesus
Love of ev’ry love the best
‘Tis an ocean vast of blessing
‘Tis a haven sweet of rest
O the deep deep love of Jesus
‘Tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me
And it lifts me up to glory
For it lifts me up to Thee.

Reading 3 - Luke 22:66-71 - Condemnation/ Sanhedrin

66 When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their council, and they said, 67 “If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, 68 and if I ask you, you will not answer. 69 But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.” 70 So they all said, “Are you the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, “You say that I am.” 71 Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

Reading 4 - Matthew 26:69-75 - Denial/ Peter

69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said, “You also were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you mean.” 71 And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him, and she said to the bystanders, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man.” 73 After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Certainly you too are one of them, for your accent betrays you.” 74 Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know the man.” And immediately the rooster crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

Reading 5 - John 19:6,15-17 - Bearing Cross

When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.”

15 They cried out, “Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” 16 So he delivered him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, 17 and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called The Place of a Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.

Reading 6 - Luke 23:33-34 - Crucifixion

33 And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”[a] And they cast lots to divide his garments.

Song - Jesus My Great High Priest

Jesus my great High Priest
Offered His blood and died
My guilty conscience seeks
No sacrifice beside
His pow’rful blood did once atone
And now it pleads before the throne
And now it pleads before the throne

To this dear Surety’s hand
Will I commit my cause
He answers and fulfils
His Father’s broken laws
Behold my soul at freedom set
My Surety paid the dreadful debt
My Surety paid the dreadful debt

CHORUS
Now I approach the throne
And I have confidence
For Jesus my Great High Priest
Offered His blood and died
Now I approach the throne
And I have confidence
For Jesus my Great High Priest
Offered His blood and died for me

My Advocate appears
For my defense on high
The Father bows his ears
And lays his thunder by
Not all that hell or sin can say
Shall turn His heart, His love, away
Shall turn His heart, His love, away

CHORUS

Should all the hosts of death
And pow’rs of hell unknown
Put their most dreadful forms
Of rage and mischief on
I shall be safe for Christ displays
His conqu’ring pow’r and guardian grace
His conqu’ring pow’r and guardian grace

CHORUS

Reading 7 - Luke 23:44-46 - Darkness/ Death

44 It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, 45 while the sun's light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. 46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.

Reading 8 - Matthew 27:57-60 - Burial

57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. 58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. 59 And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the entrance of the tomb and went away.

Song - Hallelujah What A Savior

Would you be free from your burden of sin
There's power in the blood power in the blood
Would you oe'r evil a victory win
There's wonderful power in the blood

CHORUS
There is power, power
wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb
There is power, power
wonder working power in the
precious blood of the Lamb

Would you be free from you passion and pride
There's power in the blood power in the blood
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide
There’s wonderful power in the blood

Would you be whiter much whiter than snow
There's power in the blood power in the blood|
Since things are lost in its life given flow
There’s wonderful power in the blood |

Would you do service for Jesus your King
There's power in the blood power in the blood
Would you live daily His praises to sing
There's wonderful power in the blood

Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” Luke 7:47
